Google Cast

Discovers and controls Google Cast receivers - Chromecast hardware, and Cast-builtin TVs and speakers - over the Cast v2 protocol. A persistent connection the device itself pushes status updates over, not polled.

Adding a device

Devices & Services > Google Cast > "Add device" discovers receivers on your network via mDNS (_googlecast._tcp.local.) - pick one from the live list, no PIN or pairing step required.

What you get

• App & status - the currently running app and its own status text, read-only.
• Play/pause, stop - media playback control.
• Volume & mute - a direct 0-100% control.
• Cast a URL - type a URL in and it starts playing on the device.

Works with Dashboard cards and Automations exactly like every other integration, and also shows up as a Media player alongside your other speakers/ TVs.
