Locations & Areas

A Location (e.g. "Home", "Cottage") has multiple Areas (e.g. "Bedroom 1", "Bedroom 2"), each carrying its own Floor as a plain attribute rather than a separate list. Area names are unique per-Location, not globally - two Locations can each have their own "Bedroom".

Creating locations and areas

Configuration > Locations & Areas shows one card per Location, titled with its own name; an "Add location" item in the header's three-dot menu creates new ones, and each card's own context menu has Edit and Delete. Every Area lives as a row inside its Location's card - name plus floor - with its own Edit and Delete (the red ×). Deleting a Location cascades to its own Areas; deleting an Area (or a Location) just clears it from anything referencing it, without touching the dashboard or device itself.

Tagging a dashboard or device

Both a dashboard and a connected device use the same picker to set this - cascading, not three independent dropdowns: picking a Location filters the Area choices down to that Location's own Areas, and Floor is shown read-only, derived from whichever Area you pick. The Dashboards list shows Location and Area as columns, with a search row underneath the header to filter by name, location, or area.

Right after connecting a device, Athena asks where it is - Save to tag it now, or Skip and do it later. Either way, the device-detail page's own Location card (in the left column, alongside device info) can edit it any time from its context menu.
